Coaches Dr. Mary Downs, Ph.D. (Email Coach Downs) Dr. Downs is a speech pathologist for Alexandria City Public Schools. She works at T.C. Williams High School and Patrick Henry Elementary School. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Maryland in College Park, MD. Her daughter, Abby, is a student at Gettysburg College in Pennsylvania. Ms. Michelle Christensen (Email Coach Christensen) Ms. Christensen is a speech pathologist at T.C. Williams High School and has worked for Alexandria City Public Schools since 1999. She received her B.A. from Loyola College in Baltimore, MD and her M.A. from the Catholic University of America in Washington, DC. She is currently working on her Ph.D. from Johns Hopkins University. Ms. Christiansen is nationally certified by the American Speech Language and Hearing Association and is a member of the Speech and Language Associations of Virginia, Maryland, DC, and California. Nick J. Sciullo (Email Coach Nick) Mr. Sciullo is a government affairs professional, consultant, and writer. He won a Virginia High School League State Championship at Tallwood High School in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He went on to debate at the University of Richmond under Jason Stone and Dr. Kevin D. Kuswa. While at Richmond, he served as Head Policy Debate Coach at Midlothian High School in Midlothian, Virginia, coaching teams to success in the National Forensic League, Virginia High School League, Catholic Forensic League, and other regional tournaments. He then went on to coach West Virginia University. He has written numerous law review articles, op-eds, encyclopedia entries, and other short selections discussing everything from race and gender issues to debate, postmodernism to political rhetoric. Mr. Sciullo received his B.A. in history and urban practice and policy with a minor in rhetoric and communication studies from the University of Richmond. He received his J.D. from West Virginia University in Morgantown, WV. He is working on his Master of Science in International Relations with a concentration in national security affairs from Troy University. . |
